RePL Course Structure

Three Steps

Our Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) course includes both theory and practical components.

The course is completed in 3 steps:

  1. Self-Paced Start – Two online Lessons
  2. Attend an Online Theory Class (2.5 days)
  3. Complete the Practical Components (1 – 2 days)
The course is flexible, and you can change your mind on how you complete the course.

The speed you complete the course is under your control.

A 5-6 day In-person option is available for groups.

Now let’s unpack these 3 steps in more detail…

1. Self-paced Start

All courses begin with a Self-Paced Start. This self-paced module gives you time to prepare for the rest of the course. It also allows you to begin when you want, even immediately!
There are two theory subjects in the Self-Paced Start:

The first subject is free (see below). This allows you to get into ‘study mode,’ which is very helpful if you have been away from school for a while!

The next subject, Basic Meteorology, becomes available once you commit to the course.

Both subjects include a sample quiz which is similar to the final knowledge exam. This allows you to see how you are progressing and to gain confidence.

Even though this is self paced, you can request the support of our trainers.

Once you have completed these two subjects you are ready to ‘attend’ class for the rest of the course. Classes are conducted during week days, unless otherwise arranged.

We also provide you with instruction covering practical flying skills and techniques you can practice with your drone.

This is important since you may not be ready to pass the final practical assessment without practice, especially if you are new to flying a drone.

2. Attend a Theory Class

RPAS equip training RePL Class

Once you have completed the self-paced subjects, you then ‘attend’ this online interactive theory class.

This can be completed at home or at any location where you or your group has internet access.

We run a class every two weeks from Monday to Wednesday (2.5 days).

AROC theory is included on the third day.

Theory Subjects

All theory subjects required by the latest CASA MOS are covered, either in class, or via an online face to face interactive class.

3. Complete the Practical Components

There are several practical lessons in the course. These focus on safe practices and flying a drone with control.

During the course there are a number of flying competency assessments. Then at the end of the course there is a final flight assessment.

You must be physically present to complete these practical components and to sit the theory exams (RePL and AROC).
