Obtaining a ReOC

CASA Remote Operator Certificate Process

You can prepare your own ReOC if you wish. Just visit the CASA website and follow the instructions there.

To obtain a ReOC you will need to:

  • Complete your Operations Manual
  • Nominate a Chief Remote Pilot, who has a RePL, to be responsible for drone operations for your company.
  • Your company must have a Company Aviation Reference Number.
  • Complete the CASA application forms found on their website.

Your nominated CRP you will be required to:

  1. Complete a CASA/Delegate assigned scenario (Flight Authorisation, JSA, etc.).
  2. After the time given to complete the scenario your CRP will be interviewed via telephone by CASA/Delegate and asked questions relating to the scenario, your ReOC and the responsibilities of a CRP.
  3. CASA/Delegate will then email your CRP a Knowledge Deficiency Report (KDR) to be completed before the ReOC can be issued.

How RPAS equip can help you with your ReOC

We can help you through this process with the following:

A Remote Operators Certificate (ReOC) is required before you can use your RePL.

The ReOC consists of procedures and information relevant to the safe operation of RPAS. It contains exemptions and permissions granted to that Operator.

If you do not operate under a ReOC you are limited to the Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) of the Excluded category.

So, it is important to either operate under your own ReOC or someone elses.

The ReOC is an extra expense to you if you want your own. But, it defines the privileges your company will have as an Operator. These exemptions can give you a competitive advantage.

To fly a drone outside of the Standard Operating Conditions, you must either hold a ReOC or work for a ReOC holder.

A ReOC allows you to:

  • fly closer than 30 metres
  • fly above 400ft AGL
  • obtain approvals to fly within restricted airspace
  • near aerodromes
  • extended-line-of sight, and beyond visual line-of-sight
  • fly at night
  • fly as close as 15m to people

Any person who has a RePL and is responsible for ensuring operations are safe and legal. They must have a working knowledge of Drone law, and the ReOC they are operating under.

Everything. We include all processing fees, and CASA Delegate fees. You will not have to pay any more than what we charge you. (See current prices on front page).

If you are confident you can use the CASA template and are prepared to complete the CASA sceario and interview without assistance you may save yourself about $500.

But if you want a ReOC soon our Delegate has a much faster processing time than CASA. Plus we provide you with the assistance you need.

So all up, our service is great value.
